Wasn't there a plan to make this setting/game into a full game to be on Steam? Or was that abandoned?

There was a plan to release Lorraine on Steam, but it has been postponed indefinitely. Meanwhile, the larger project set in the same universe, Preternatural 1909, is in its early stages of development.

I’ll share more details with a proper presentation once I have more material to showcase.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game. The art style and gameplay were smooth and I really liked the character designs. It was refreshing to see the art style, character designs and environments beyond the PS1 styles prominent in the horror genre.  My only critique would be more exposition within the game, and the camera remaining on the character after finding the doll parts. I found the character bios after playing, answering some of my suspicions, otherwise solid game, and I hope to see more of your work in the future.

Thank you so much for the playthrough!

I just updated the game to fix that pesky camera angle!

I loved this game so much  I played it twice in a row, and I'll play it again once the memory of it has become dampened juuust enough for me to be taken with the gothic glory all over again.

Love this gothic art style soooo much!

It was very good until the cats. Hard no for me amd many others. Disappointed and makes me really wonder. No future support from this person amd will rate everywhere possible.

There's a big disclaimer in this page that warns about animal violence. Why did you play the game if you can't stand that kind of content? You're punishing the dev for something that is entirely your fault...

-----

I wish common sense was common enough that I didn't have to mention this - it's ok to not like certain types of content, however, it's important to note that videogames are NOT real. Those cats aren't real. Those people aren't real. You can't hurt something that doesn't exist.

Most people know that fiction is just a story medium; to experience new things, new perspectives, or merely a form of entertainment. Immoral acts are permissible in fiction because they have no bearing in reality. Similarly, the inclusion of dark topics doesn't necessarily mean either the player or the author approve of such things in the real world.

Wow! This was a very cool experience, really enjoyed the story

Thank you!

Lorraine is a  gothic rock or penny dreadful turned into videogame form. A game I've been looking for and never knew it actually existed. I loved it so much that the prospect of it ending so shortly made me not want to finish it. Gorgeously looking, if you ever wondered what would be like to play on Edgar Allan Poe or Mary Shelley novel, this is the game for you.

It also runs perfectly on Steam Deck as you can see by pressing the link below:

Thank you so much for the playthrough!

Thank you for making this masterpiece of a game. 🥰

Will there be Simplified Chinese in the future?

Unfortunately there won't be any localization

(+1)

controller support?

(+1)

Not currently.

It will be added when the game releases on Steam.

thanks for replying I am I played a little bit of the game. I really like it so far I love your videos that you make too. How do we save the game? Is that possible right now?

Thank you!

No saving, the game is meant to be played in one sitting as it approximately 30 minutes long.

(+1)

OK cool I had accidentally exited out of the game in the middle lol. I just bought it after finding your stuff on YouTube  and I’m not used to keyboard mouse gaming yet 🤣

(+1)

I describe it as raw and real

I'm tearing up like I'm on Dr. Phil

And now I can't stop thinking about the open the door meme 💀

yeeee!

Astounding experience! I wish more games used such a setting.

(+1)

Thank you!

Such a beautifully macabre experience. The way the story unfolds from the beginning all the way to the very end is exceptional. Even the smallest details, like the framed pictures in the house, and how the state of everything evolved over time to coincide with the story... The music... And the moody camera angles and transitions... Very well done. My only complaint is that it was way too short!

(+1)

Thank you very much!

(+2)

I adore this! Lorraine is now one of my favourite games, everything about it is delightful. Love the gothic design, especially on Lorraine herself, and the sound design is absolutely chilling (especially during that cat scene). Gamplay is simple but works for the story being told, and that ending was definitely unexpected. Fantastic experience, I'd love to play more games in this style.

(+2)

Thank you!

Hopefully I'll be able to elevate all those things you appreciated in my next project!

(+1)

you had me at "Grotesque"!

Loved this game! And I adore Lorraine because I just think she's beautiful haha.  I've already recommended it to several of my friends this week. I played it for my YT and hope people support you in buying a copy

Thank you very much!

I went into this completely blind, and it didn't disappoint me. I didn't even read the itch page because my friend recommended the game to me, so the ending caught me off-guard. Really looking forward to your next projects.

Thank you!

I am someone who can not play horror games myself as I am in fact a big baby. But I watched manlybadasshero play the game and I have to say the aestheitics of it are wonderful. Your ability to perfect recreate the old style of pre rendered cutscene but also somehow update it and make it feel fresh it honestly impressive.

I appreciate the lack of jumpscares and the horror more so coming from the unknown of the story and what's real. The cat cutscene I found the most disturbing purely because of the sound design and nothing else, but it didn't feel gross like some other games would do with something like that.

Thank you!

Any plans on bringing this bad boy over to Steam? Would be fun to have it on there in all honesty.

I really don't know to be fair. I might bring it to Steam alongside my next project, but it will take a while.

Was really impressed by the game, particularly with the presentation. You really captured the essential elements of the gothic horror genre and it was refreshing to see an indie horror game that doesn't rely on huge amounts of notes, documents and long expository dialogue to tell a story. I was surprised that even the Itch.io page is wonderfully presented and makes an excellent first impression!

My only complaint is that Lorraine makes an off-handed comment that supports the myth that corsets were somehow dangerous or harmful to women. This myth is the bane of fashion historians and there's a lot of information online debunking that particular myth so I won't go into great detail here, but Karolina Zebrowska, Bernadette Banner and Abby Cox all have excellent videos on the topic.

(+1)

Thank you!

Hopefully I'll redeem myself from corset-gate in my next project.

(+1)

Haha, I came here to say the same. Gotta make mistakes to learn new stuff. Great job mate

Didn't finish the game on my first playthrough so made a second part to show the ending. Enjoy!

Danke!

My girlfriend enjoyed your game-- the aesthetics especially. :)

Awesome playthrough, thank you!

This bit size horror game is awesome! I loved the esthetics and the goth horror theme, I would live to see more short horror games like this! Definitely grab this game.

Check out my gameplay of this game on YouTube and let me know what you think! Great story!

Thanks for the playthrough!

Your reactions were priceless :D

Saw the first few minutes of a playthrough, which covered the funeral. I stopped there to see for myself how the story ends. At first I expected something of a Black Widow/Vampire storyline but was pleasantly surprised it wasn't. Still, this game felt like a fragment of a bigger story. A lot of potential, I like it. Especially the victorian era vibe.

However, poor cats.

A fragment of a bigger story indeed :)

Thank you  and worry not, at least one cat will be avenged in my next project!

Absolutely loved this game, and making content for it. I hope this game gets all the attention it deserves - and hopefully a sequel! Hats off to you, developer.

Thank you!

theres a steam version? mb later?

(+1)

This game is awesome! I love the asthetic vibe and horror that the game has going to it and it actually does the PS1 style graphics actually really well! I can't wait to play more!

Thank you!

An
An absolute masterpiece. It was the perfect game in my opinion. The fashion, the story, the graphics, the cut scenes! Absolutely magnificent. I need a longer game. Please tell me that we will see more games like these from you! I love this gothic type of games and stories. It was so good!
(+1)

Thank you and yes, something much juicier, dark and macabre is boiling in my cauldron :D

(1 edit) (+2)

Already watched two playthroughs of the game but went ahead and purchased it for myself because I immediately fell in love with the graphical style and ambience of the game. I'm really looking forward to more from this dev!

Edit: just played through it myself and I'm curious, what was the dried flower found under the bed for?? Is there a secret hidden somewhere involving this flower?

(+2)

It's an easter egg to something I haven't shown yet ;)

Ooh, I can't wait!! <3

(+2)

Great game! It is certainly very beautiful, especially within the cut scene. I really love how the opening sequence of us preparing to bury our husband foreshadows the rest of the game, from the cat sitting on the fountain to the mention of the reinforced coffins.

Looking forward to seeing what you create next!

"If you want to feed your zombie husband make sure to kill your neighbours first" should honestly be the game tagline lololol!

Thanks for the playthrough!

As someone who loves gothic literature and anything related to horror, I loved this game very much! It is fairly short, maybe an hour of gameplay at most. There are no chase scenes or combat. So, if you are someone like me who prefers dark stories and psychological horror instead of jumpscares, I would recommend this game for you! The aesthetics of this game are very beautiful and nostalgic, so exploring the environment is a great experience.

Overall I would compare it to reading one of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories! I look forward to playing more games from this dev in the future <3

Thank you!

(+2)

This game delivers the dark and cold atmosphere of a gothic romance tale, like a really disturbing Tim Burton film. The visuals are stunning and the story is very well told. Though the ending felt a little rushed, I feel  more than satisfied with the overall experience. Well done, dev!

(+1)

Thank you very much!

I definitely plan to expand Lorraine's universe in the future!

(+3)

Absolutely love the vibe of this game. The cutscenes' higher poly count models really shine while the lower more crunchy ones used for gameplay look straight up perfect. Such a beautiful juxtaposition, really hoping you end up making more games down the line. :0

(+3)

Thank you!

There's already a new, much bigger and complex project in its neonatal phase...

(+1)

great story and great visual in game ..vibe mix ps2. bellissimo grazie! ma siete italiani ?

(+2)

I was so shocked. . Because it has an unbelievable beautiful artstyle and an interesting story. I love this beautiful protagonist  and the ending! Thank you for a great experience!  I felt like playing the past games like clock towers or resident evil somehowXD

Thank you! Your reaction to that scene was priceless!

(+1)

I thought your game was great!!!  concept behind it was cool!  Wish it was a bit longer!! great job!

Thank you!

(+2)

It was interesting, but I feel like the resources were somewhat underused. I expected more "fetch-questing" based off of the graveyard intro, and I was invested in the story, so I feel like it ended quite suddenly.

Also, the statue in the center of the cat area has no collision, and the mirror collider clips through to the bedroom.

(+2)

Thank you for the feedback! I just updated the game with the fixed colliders.

Show post...

does this game ave some kind of combat

Nope, the game's focused on exploring and interacting with the environment :)

Show post...

does it have at least some kind of final boss or something.
