Thank you!
Hey sweets!
Thank you! The response to Lorraine has been overwhelmingly positive and it really warms my black little heart!
So I really felt compelled to elaborate on some recurring comments I've seen here and there about the game.
What inspired the graphic style?
Dreamcast and early to mid 2000s pc games! With the biggest inspirations being Nightmare creatures 2, Gothic 1 and 2, Arx fatalis and Blade of Darkness. But of course, there’s also some sprinkles of Koudelka, Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2 (the mirror scene) and VTMB. If you really appreciated the CGI, I vividly suggest you to watch my other animations!
What inspired the story?
The story changed a few times: it was initially about a victorian sex worker trying to kill Jack the ripper, then it evolved into a mortician having to deal with a possessed body during the embalming process (in the vein of “the autopsy of Jane Doe”) and then finally it evolved into the Hellbound Heart/Sweeney Tood conglomerate it is.
What inspired Lorraine’s design?
Lorre’s design changed a few time as well: her “lady of the night” design was directly inspired by Angela Lansbury original Mrs. Lovett, while her mortician/final design is much closer to the actual funeral fashion and working class clothes of the late 1800s.
Why the lame white lady name for the protagonist?
Cause I was hype as fuck for Loreen at Eurovision. And she won.
Why is the game so short/ Why there’s an underuse of the assets?
I'm bad at time management, I was learning a lot of things during development and I also had to deal with my Uni shenanigans. The entire process was really enlightening to understand what not to do as a solodev.
Why the convoluted english?
English is my second language.
What’s the dried flower for?
Belladonna sounds like a vampire name…
Will there be any updates?
Besides bug fixes, not really. I’d rather gather all the possible feedback from it and then apply it to my next game. And of course, fuck Unity. This also means that I won't port the game on android, nor publish it on steam.
Is Lorraine a teaser to something bigger?
Yes :)
